“Like a Hurricane” & “Part of Me” – Poems

Like A Hurricane

My blood blazed in my veins
like a forest fire.
Each heartbeat
was a lightning strike.
Each breath,
a hurricane.
Untamed energy
hummed on my skin
like static electricity.
The sweetest form
of electrocution.

Part of Me

Hey there, you.

It’s been awhile.
Not a day goes by where I don’t miss your smile.
Not a day goes by where I don’t miss the way you used to laugh.
Being here without you, I feel like I’m cut in half.
Part of me is missing, and that part of me is you.
Now that you’re gone from here, I’m not sure of what to do.
The day you died the world lost a bit of light, because life without you here with me is simply not as bright.
